1. Kolkata Puchka-

Puchka, Gupchup, Golgappa whatever you call it, every phuchkawallah makes a phuchka to die for.Among other Kolkata street food, the papri chat, dum aloo phuchkas and dahi phuchkas here are to die for. There are thousands of places where you can try Puchkas, you will find atleast one puchkawala in every lanes of kolkata. Not only Normal Puchka with tetul gola (tamarind pulp) You will get sweet chutney, Dahi Puchkas, Papri Chaat and what not. If you want to try some new flavours The stalls near Vivekanda Park, Southern Avenue has some crazy variety, From Strawberry, Mango, Chocolate, Chicken Puchka you will get more. The Stalls Near Bhawanipur makes some mouthwatering puchkas as well.

  1. Kathi Roll-

Did you know the famous ‘Kathi Rolls’ were first made in Kolkata? There’s a shop called Nizam owns the credit to the delicious stuffing wrapped in thin roti that is now found in every city.  it is a skewer-roasted kebab wrapped in a paratha bread, although over the years many variants have evolved all of which now go under the generic name of kathi roll.

In Kolkata, shops serving rolls are mostly known as ‘Roll-er-dokaan’ and people use ‘roll’ to refer to a kathi roll. You will get Chicken, Mutton, Egg, Veg Rolls Mostly. There are many Restaurants who are making Rolls with some unique stuffing which are to die for as well. Arsalan, Aminia, Jabbar Afgani ,Kusum Rolls are pretty Good Places to have some droolworthy rolls.

  1. Momo’s –

Though Momo is a Tibetan food, Kolkata people loves Momo more than anything, Its more like a comfort food. Momos here are served with a piping hot soup and the perfect sauce for accompaniments- the very definition of comfort food!You will find Momos in a roadside stall fpr INR 30 and also for 300 in a Fine-dining Resturant. The momos near Territte Bazar has some Buzz as the most authentic places to have momo. Except that Momo Plaza, Momo I am, Hamro Momo, Denzong Kitchen serves some amazng momos. Moreover if you are looking for Street options then Stalls near Jadavpur 8b, Bapi da momo, Momogiri is very much affordable and superb in taste.

4.Kachori Sabji-

One of the staple Kolkata breakfast is Kachori and sabji and not to mention Jalebi also.It is mainly made up of Maida and there is a filling of Daal inside, along with it there is some mildly spiced aloo sabji and Mirchi ka salan. It doesn’t cost much and it will fill you up. Kachori and sabji is a must have on Sundays and other Holidays. Breakfast or evening snacks Its your choice. You will get 4 pieces of kachori and sabji for just INR 20. Maharaja, Maharani, Sreehari, Sharma sweets , Puti ram are some of famous places.

  1. Fish Fry-

Kolkata is world famous for its wide verity of fish items. We love lots of recipes but one that is a MUST MUST for everyone is Fish Fry. Fish fry or Bhetki fry is a very famous street food of West Bengal. Bhetki (or any white fish) will be first marinated in a green paste then they will get a coating of breadcrumbs and before serving will be fried until golden.  You will enjoy soft, flaky fish inside and crispy, crunchy coating outside, just heavenly. Not only Fish fry also try Fish Orly, Fish Finger, Fish Kabiraji.

6. Desi Chinese –

Once home to 20,000 Chinese has now drastically declined in number, however, it has not lost its food culture yet. Authentic Chinese with all the traditionally cooked food lures people from all over- especially during the Chinese New Year when the place is decorated with Chinese hangings and little dragons on the shops and houses. Chinese Breakfast consisting of rice dumplings and soup is the most sought-after Chinese preparation while one can also find the Indian version of Chinese. However, you’ve to be an early bird for this one. Visit the place no later than 5.30 AM, stocks last till about 6.30 or 7 AM.

7. Tela Bhaja-

You’re not a Calcuttan if you don’t give in to telebhaja every other day. We’ve got you a list of places that won’t let you down! It’s one of the most old Snacks which costs mostly less than 10bucks. Its mostly pure veg. Aloo chop, Piyaji(Piyaj k Pakode), Beguni(brinjal) , Daaler Bora, Lonka Bora(mirchi k Pakode) and what not. You will get these in most of places in Kolkata. All the places has there own Taste but some of my Favourites are  Kalpataru ,  Kalika.

8.Bengali Sweets-
West Bengal offers a rich variety of delicacies for every palate. The sweet tooth of Bengalis, as well as the variety of sweets and desserts available in the region, is astounding. While some of those quintessentially Bengali recipes and items have now found their way to the rest of the country, there are several Bengali sweets which have not reached their deserved potential and popularity yet. One of the most famous Bengali sweets, Roshogolla is a soft round mithai made out of Chhena and dipped into a sugary syrup. One of the most popular and well-known desserts in Bengal is the creamy and delicious Mishti Doi. Pantua, Amriti, Langcha, Patishapta, Chomchom.
